Beavers
Ages 6–8Our youngest members explore the world through games, crafts, stories and plenty of time outdoors – a gentle, fun first step into scouting.
The 17th Wicklow Roundwood Scout Group brings Beavers, Cubs and Scouts out into the mountains, forests and lakes on our doorstep – learning new skills, making friends and having fun.
We're a volunteer-led group serving Roundwood, Annamoe and the surrounding area. Every week our young people learn by doing – lighting fires, pitching tents, reading maps, cooking outdoors and working together in small teams.
With Lough Dan, Glendalough and the Vartry on our doorstep, there are few better places in Ireland to be a scout. Our group was founded in 2020, but scouting in Wicklow goes back more than a century. Read our history.
Find the right section
Each section is designed for its age group, so young people grow in confidence and independence as they move up. All sections meet on Fridays during school terms, with the odd weekend hike or day activity instead.
Pitching tents, cooking on stoves and fires, and nights under the stars.
Map reading, navigation and exploring the trails of the Wicklow Mountains.
Kayaking, canoeing and water safety on lakes close to home.
Helping out locally, from clean-ups to parades and village events.
Places in each section are limited. Add your child to our waiting list and we'll be in touch when a place opens up.
Membership is €235 per child per year, paid in two instalments: €135 when you join and €100 after Christmas. Members can pay online on our Membership page.
Join the waiting listOur group runs entirely on volunteers. No scouting experience needed – Scouting Ireland provides full training and support. Parents especially welcome.
