We're climbing Snowdon!

  • Sunday 6 June 2027
  • 1,085m summit
  • Ferry: Dublin → Holyhead

Our Cubs and Scouts are heading to Wales! Over the June bank holiday weekend in 2027 we'll take on our biggest challenge yet: climbing Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), the highest mountain in Wales at 1,085 metres.

We'll sail from Dublin to Holyhead on the ferry and travel on to Llanberis, the village at the foot of the mountain. Then, on Sunday 6 June 2027, we'll set off up the Llanberis Path, a 14.5km hike to the summit and back, with views right across Snowdonia (Eryri) on a clear day.

The training has already started, with hikes like our climb up Scarr in October, and there will be plenty more walks in the Wicklow Mountains between now and June to get everyone ready.

We'll share more details with Cub and Scout families closer to the time. Watch this space!

Halloween arts & crafts evening

  • Knife safety
  • Reef knots
  • Teamwork
  • Apple bobbing

On Friday 23 October our Cubs held a Halloween arts and crafts evening at the Annamoe Centre, with a scouting skill hidden in every activity.

They learned knife safety by carving pumpkins, practised reef knots by making skeleton decorations, and worked on their teamwork with a game of guess the human body part.

And of course there was plenty of fun with apple bobbing, and a few Cubs ended up wrapped from head to toe as toilet-paper mummies!

Happy Halloween from all the Cubs and leaders!

Training hike up Scarr

  • 11km
  • Drummin, Annamoe → Scarr
  • 641m summit

On Sunday 18 October our Cubs laced up their boots for an 11km training hike from Drummin in Annamoe to the summit of Scarr, a 641-metre peak in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains.

The hike was part of their training for a big challenge next summer: climbing Snowdon in Wales on Sunday 6 June 2027. The Llanberis Path to the summit and back is a 14.5km hike, so every training walk between now and then counts.

Well done to all our Cubs and leaders on a great day out on the hills.
